Monitoring sex offenders'computer use can reinforce prohibitions on access to sexual material; help treatment agencies understand and treat offenders; and provide evidence of new crimes, such as possession of child pornography. A powerful tool called Field Search enables law enforcement and community corrections officers to deal with sex offenders' ready access to the Internet and to monitor and manage their computer use.

|Fog Computing Conceptual Model||
Managing the data generated by Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and actuators is one of the biggest challenges faced when deploying an IoT system. Traditional cloud-based IoT systems are challenged by the large scale, heterogeneity, and high latency witnessed in some cloud ecosystems. One solution is to decentralize applications, management, and data analytics into the network itself using a distributed and federated compute model. This approach has become known as fog computing. This document presents the conceptual model of fog and mist computing and how they relate to cloud-based computing models for IoT. This document further characterizes important properties and aspects of fog computing, including service models, deployment strategies, and provides a baseline of what fog computing is, and how it may be used.

|Forensic Optical Topography - A Landscape Study||
The National Institute of Justice’s (NIJ’s) Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) at RTI International directed this landscape study of optical topography instrument for implementation in forensic practice with input from law enforcement, crime laboratories, research scientists, and practitioners in the criminal justice community. A landscape study, in concept, is designed to provide a comprehensive list of market participants, their products, and product features to enable better informed decisions by end users. This report provides a landscape view of currently available optical topography systems for firearms identification. It is intended to provide forensic laboratory directors, practitioners, and stakeholders with a survey of commercial systems and a basic introduction to the technology.

|Fostering Innovation in Community and Institutional Corrections: Identifying High-Priority Technology and Other Needs||
The agencies of the U.S. corrections enterprise manage offenders confined in prisons and jails and those who have been released into the community on probation and parole. To better achieve its objectives and play its role within the criminal justice enterprise, the sector needs innovation in corrections technology, policy, and practice. This report draws on published literature and new structured deliberations of a practitioner Corrections Advisory Panel to frame an innovation agenda. It identifies and prioritizes potential improvements in technology, policy, and practice in both community and institutional corrections.
